Riverside County sheriff’s officials will conduct an “expedited” hiring fair on Saturday, seeking to interview and test prospective candidates for correctional deputy positions.

According to Senior Deputy Tom Tully, the recruitment event is slated for 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Riverside at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, 16791 Davis Ave.

“Written exams and physical agility tests for correctional deputy will be administered,” Tully said. “This is an opportunity to get the written test, physical agility test … and receive a background packet all in one day.”

The sheriff’s department is ramping up hiring to fill hundreds of positions at the Benoit Detention Center in Indio, which is in the process of a phased opening. The first wing is slated to be operational in early July, and additional space will be opened over the next two years.

Tully recommended that prospects wear appropriate fitness attire “for the entire event.”

Walk-ins will be admitted, though Tully said those who pre-register will be given priority appointments.

Registration can be completed by contacting the sheriff’s recruitment office, either via email at HRSheriffRecruiter@rivco.org, or via phone at (888) 564-6773.
