Three household pets perished in a fire at a Moreno Valley mobile home park, where a doublewide trailer was destroyed and other homes were damaged.
The blaze was reported about 1:30 p.m. in the Sky Trails Mobile Village at 14890 Perris Boulevard, near JFK Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Six engine crews and two truck companies, numbering over two dozen personnel, were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the doublewide unit and extending to a second one, as well as two adjacent single-wide trailers, all of which were damaged.
The blaze was declared 100 percent contained at 1:50 p.m, with total losses estimated to be more than a quarter million dollars, according to the fire department.
The one mobile home was left uninhabitable, and firefighters found two dead dogs and a cat inside, officials said.
No residents were injured by the fire. However, the Red Cross was summoned to assist the displaced occupants of the mobile home with finding temporary accommodations.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
