Sheriff’s investigators are seeking witnesses to a fatal crash that occurred Sunday in Wildomar — the second deadly crash in the small city since Thursday.
A call came in just after 8 a.m. Sunday reporting the crash on Bundy Canyon Road near Oak Creek Drive, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Jimenez. A Toyota Echo had been heading east on Bundy Canyon when it crossed into the opposing lane, left the roadway and crashed head-on into a tree, he said.
The driver was taken to nearby Inland Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her name and age were being withheld pending notification of her family, according to Jimenez, who said investigators were unsure if drugs or alcohol could have been factors in the crash.
Bundy Canyon was closed in both directions for about five hours afterward.
Deputies asked anyone who may have information on the crash to contact the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at 951-245-3300.
On Thursday, 19-year-old Amanda Nelson of Murrieta was killed in a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Corydon Road and Cereal Street in Wildomar — a little more than two miles from the site of the Sunday crash.
