A vehicle carrying two occupants plunged 30 feet off a hillside Wednesday along Highway 79 just north of Gilman Springs Road, authorities said.
The two occupants were still stuck inside as of 12:36 p.m., the Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department confirmed, awaiting a rescue by first responders. Injuries were not immediately available.
The California Highway Patrol first reported at 12:24 p.m. that a sedan had hit the center divider and spun off the roadway, CHP logs show. It was not immediately clear if this was the same vehicle that plunged off the roadway.
A fire engine was reported to be blocking the No. 2 lane as of 12:46 p.m.
