Crews worked to restore electricity to an estimated 901 customers in Coachella and 197 customers in La Quinta who are without power Tuesday morning, the Imperial Irrigation District reported.
The outage in Coachella was reported at 9:27 a.m., and La Quinta at 6:11 a.m. The La Quinta outage began with an estimated 685 affected customers, but power had been restored to about half of them by 9:24 a.m.
In Coachella, IID officials said a “troubleshooter” was en route as of 9:27 a.m., but did not provide further details.
No reason for the outages was reported, although the incidents occurred following a light rain that began last night and continued Tuesday morning throughout the Coachella Valley.
The IID did not provide an estimate for when electricity would be fully restored to either community.
