Two people suffered minor to moderate injuries when their vehicle was pinned under a semi-truck during a crash on the 215 Freeway in Riverside, a firefighting official said Sunday.
The crash occurred on the northbound freeway at the downtown Riverside interchange. Firefighters dispatched to the scene at around 8 a.m. Saturday saw someone in the front right passenger seat pinned in the vehicle under the semi-truck, Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Bruce Vanderhorst said.
The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was able to self-extricate. Firefighters, using the Jaws of Life and other extrication tools, were able to cut away the roof of the vehicle and extract the passenger in about 20 minutes, Vanderhorst said.
