A quarter-acre brush fire that erupted Friday alongside the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley was quickly contained with no injuries.

The blaze broke out for unknown reasons about 2:55 p.m. adjacent to the westbound 60 near Hall Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Crews from the Riverside County Fire Department and city of Riverside were sent to the location and encountered flames in the area of the Rubidoux Boulevard exit and on-ramps from the 60, which were briefly shut down by the CHP, along with one westbound traffic lane. The brusher was knocked down within 20 minutes.
