County officials Tuesday extended the closure of the popular Eaton Canyon hiking trail near Altadena through the end of the month to protect against further spread of the coronavirus.
“UPDATE: #EatonCanyon Trails & Natural Areas remain closed thru May 31, due to overwhelming crowds not following #COVID19 public health requirements for face coverings & #PhysicalDistancing. Parking lots closed. Review guidelines for all #trails: parks.lacounty.gov/covid-19,” the Los Angeles County Department of Park and Recreation tweeted Tuesday morning.
While several nature venues reopened over Memorial Day weekend, officials decided to close Eaton Canyon on Saturday because too many hikers did not follow county health guidelines.
