A brush fire that erupted Wednesday on a hillside just east of the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley scorched about an acre before crews stopped it.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:25 p.m. near the intersection of Canal and Alta streets, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Five engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate in the vicinity of a water tower. About 25 minutes later, the brusher was fully contained, according to reports from the scene.

No structures were damaged, and no streets were closed because of the fire.

The cause was under investigation.
