Fire engulfed a home east of Temecula near Vail Lake Tuesday before spreading to nearby vegetation and consuming a second home while continuing to spread.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 9:47 a.m. in the 37000 Woodchuck Road, south of state Route 79, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
As of 10:25 a.m., the blaze was burning at a moderate rate of spread and no evacuations had been ordered. The agency said 25 engine crews and four hand crews, numbering 140 personnel, were sent to the location to battle the flames.
Two air tankers were making runs at the blaze from overhead, along with one helicopter.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
