A brush fire that broke out Wednesday in Temescal Canyon damaged a hillside house before it was stopped.
The blaze was reported about 12:25 p.m. in the area of Horsethief Canyon Road and Colt Drive, just west of Interstate 15, south of the Corona city limits, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Nine engine crews from the county, Corona Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service were sent to the location and immediately went to work knocking down the fire that had reached the house. Flames damaged the lower living quarters but did not destroy the property, according to county officials.
There was a minor injury, but the person declined to be taken to a hospital, according to reports from the scene.
The blaze, which blackened less than an acre of the hillside, was declared fully contained about 1:20 p.m. Crews were expected to continue mopping up until 5 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
