A brush fire that erupted Thursday on the northern edge of Jurupa Valley blackened about three acres, spreading into San Bernardino County, before being stopped.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:45 p.m. along Armstrong Road, near Seventh Street, in Jurupa Hills, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews from Riverside and San Bernardino counties were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate to the northeast.

No structures were threatened.

Within 20 minutes, the fire’s rate of spread had been stopped, and crews were making rapid progress encircling the fire, according to reports from the scene.

Cal Fire air tankers that had been dispatched to the area were directed to return to Hemet-Ryan Airport because they weren’t needed.

Crews were expected to finish mopping up by 7 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
