The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Sunday for the 38th time in the last 40 days, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $2.96.
The average price has increased 30 cents over the past 40 days, including six-tenths of a cent Saturday.
It is 4.7 cents more than a week ago and 23.4 cents higher than one month ago, but 78.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
It has dropped 54.2 cents since the start of the year.
