The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Monday for the 39th time in 41 days, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $2.968, its highest amount since March 31.
The average price has increased 30.8 cents over the past 41 days, including three-tenths of a cent on Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 23 consecutive days, dropped three-tenths of a cent on May 29, resumed increasing the next day, dropped three-tenths of a cent last Monday and resumed rising on Tuesday.
The run of increases followed 58 decreases in 62 days totaling 80.6 cents, which dropped the average price to its lowest amount since Aug. 30, 2016.
The average price is 5.8 cents more than a week ago and 24.1 cents higher than one month ago but 76 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped 54 cents since the start of the year.
