A fire that erupted Thursday in a riparian area on the south edge of Perris scorched roughly four acres before being partially contained.
The non-injury blaze broke out for unknown reasons about 4:20 p.m. along Goetz Road, just north of Ethanac Road, close to the Menifee city limits, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews encountered flames burning at a moderate rate in thick, overgrown vegetation surrounding a natural waterway.
By 7 p.m., the blaze was 30% contained, and Goetz Road was reopened to traffic.
