Southbound Interstate 15 in Wildomar will be partially closed Friday evening for emergency repair work, and motorists should be prepared for delays, according to Caltrans.
Agency spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said crews will be removing and replacing damaged pavement between Baxter and Clinton Keith roads, beginning at 8 p.m. and likely finishing about 5 a.m. Saturday.
“We’re hoping to get everything wrapped up tonight, but they may have to go back,” Kasinga told City News Service.
She said surfaces were “popping out” in multiple places, requiring immediate attention.
“It’s just old pavement,” Kasinga said. “It’s like that in several spots on the 15. We’re fixing it.”
Two lanes will be taken out of service, and one lane will be open to motorists for the duration of the emergency repair project, she said.
Drivers are asked to consider using alternate routes because delays may be lengthy.
