A hiker who suffered an unspecified medical emergency was airlifted from a trail east of Temecula and later hospitalized Saturday.
Emergency crews were alerted at 12:14 p.m. about the hiker, who was trekking the Dripping Springs Trail in the Cleveland National Forest in extreme heat, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The hiker was transported by a fire department helicopter to an awaiting ground ambulance and then to a hospital.
The hiker’s condition was not immediately available.
