A row of tamarisk trees in Palm Desert caught fire Wednesday morning.
Firefighters responded to the 79000 block of Country Club Drive about 5 a.m. and located approximately 700 feet of trees burning, an area covering about an acre, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The flames were extinguished with about an hour, but some personnel remained on scene mopping up. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
