A wildfire that charred 52 acres in Whitewater was 90% contained Tuesday.
The non-injury blaze was reported Sunday at 1:26 p.m. near Whitewater Canyon Road in the Whitewater Preserve area, about 10 miles east of the massive Apple Fire, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
About 220 firefighters, along with three helicopters and three air tankers, halted the fire’s forward rate of spread by about 5 p.m. Sunday. No structures were damaged.
There was no word on what sparked the blaze.
