A motorist was injured Monday when his sedan collided with another vehicle and overturned on Interstate 215 in downtown Riverside.
The rollover crash happened about 11:50 a.m. on northbound I-215 at the transition to the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A Toyota Scion and a Toyota Corolla collided at the interchange, causing the latter vehicle to flip onto its roof.
The driver was trapped inside, and it took Riverside Fire Department crews roughly 20 minutes to extricate him from the wreckage. The motorist was taken to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, according to reports from the scene.
No one in the Scion was hurt.
CHP officers closed two lanes on northbound I-215 to the 91 connector while emergency crews worked, prompting a SigAlert because of the ensuing traffic jam. The lanes were reopened by 12:20 p.m.
