An outbuilding and about an acre of vegetation burned Friday in the hills south of Corona before the flames could be stopped, crews reported.
The non-injury “Joe Fire” was reported at 8:40 a.m. in the 4400 block of Joseph Canyon Trail, on the eastern boundary of the Cleveland National Forest, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews and several hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames in a small outbuilding and burning in light brush along a hillside, not threatening any homes.
By 12:30 p.m., the Joe Fire was declared 100% contained, and most fire personnel were being released, except for those mopping up along the fire lines.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
The Joe Fire was about two miles southeast of the 45-acre “Skyline Fire” that prompted a multi-agency response Thursday evening. Firefighters expect that blaze to be fully contained Friday evening or Saturday morning.
