A small earthquake Friday rattled a section of Imperial County near Riverside County, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The temblor struck with a magnitude of 3.1 at 2:05 a.m. at a depth of nearly 5 miles, its epicenter 3 miles southwest of Salton City and 30 miles south-southeast of Coachella, according to a computer-generated USGS report.
There has been a number of quakes in the area in recent days.
