A wildfire that erupted Thursday in a community west of Temecula quickly charred about 10 acres as it moved toward San Diego County.
No homes or other structures were immediately threatened by the blaze, which was reported at 11:20 a.m. in the area of Via Volcano and Los Gatos Road, in the unincorporated community of De Luz, where houses are spread out on large lots along hillsides.
Several Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were the first to reach the area and immediately began making runs on the brusher.
Multiple engine crews were sent but had difficulty reaching the blaze, which was pushing southwest toward the boundary separating Riverside and San Diego counties, according to reports from the scene.
Crews were staging on De Luz Truck Trail.
There was no word on how the fire started.
