A fire that erupted Monday outside a Mead Valley mobile home damaged the exterior of the structure but was stopped before spreading into surrounding vegetation.

The non-injury blaze was reported at about 4:10 p.m. at 17045 Cajon Drive, just west of Gavilan Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning within the patio area of the doublewide, sending up thick columns of smoke that initially prompted concerns the flames had spread into brush.

However, the fire was confined to the front of the residence, which had been safely evacuated, according to reports from the scene.

None of the surrounding properties were impacted, and the blaze was fully contained at 4:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
