A body was found floating in the Whitewater River near Highway 111 northwest of Palm Springs, although foul play is not thought to be a factor, a sheriff’s sergeant said Monday.
Sheriff’s deputies were sent at 5:12 p.m. Sunday to a report of a body in the water, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro.
Deputies located a dead man, whose name was not immediately released.
“At this time it does not look to be foul play,” Pecoraro said.
Additional information, including the cause of death, was not provided.
It was the second body found near the Whitewater area over the weekend.
The first was discovered Saturday about 10:30 a.m. near Tipton Road off-ramp from eastbound Interstate 10, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Additional information on that body was not released.
