A motorist was injured Wednesday in a rollover crash involving a pickup on the Riverside (91) Freeway that also damaged two other vehicles.

The crash happened about 10:40 a.m. on the eastbound 91 at Central Avenue in Riverside, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A white pickup went out of control in the fast lane and flipped, coming to rest on the driver’s side. A Ford Escape SUV and a Ford Mustang were hit by the pickup, according to the CHP.

The driver of the pickup had extricated himself from the wreckage by the time Riverside Fire Department crews reached the location. He was taken to Riverside Community Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to reports from the scene.

The Ford Escape sustained major front-end damage, and both it and the pickup required tow trucks to remove them. The Mustang had minor damage.

The HOV and No. 1 lanes were closed while Caltrans crews cleared debris. The lanes were expected to be reopened by noon.

The CHP was investigating the cause of the crash.
