Flames burned in the attic of a Riverside home Saturday causing about $150,000 in damage and displacing the seven people who live there.
The fire was reported about 4 p.m. in the 4400 block of Langston Place, said Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Bruce Vanderhorst.
All seven occupants had evacuated before firefighters arrived, Vanderhorst said.
Firefighters had all of the flames out by 5 p.m., he said.
“The attic space contained a second roof and blown-in attic insulation which contributed to the fire spreading through the attic space,” Vanderhorst said. “Several rooms had to have the ceiling pulled down to remove the blown-in insulation. The probable cause of the fire is electrical within the attic space. ”
No civilians or firefighters were injured, he said. Two adults and five children were displaced by the fire.
