A motorist was killed Monday in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in Desert Hot Springs.

The collision involving five vehicles was reported about 12:15 p.m. in the area of Palm Drive and 20th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. One of the vehicles caught fire, and was fully engulfed by the time Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived.

The CHP reported Monday afternoon that one person was fatally injured, but no other information was immediately available.
