Firefighters Friday were trekking seven miles to reach an injured hiker in La Quinta.
The injury was reported at about 10:50 a.m. on the Bear Creek Oasis Trail, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire officials did not specify what type of injury the hiker suffered.
This is the second day in a row that rescue crews were called out to help a hiker on a Coachella Valley trail. On Thanksgiving, firefighters responded to a report that a hiker collapsed on a trail east of Mecca but despite their rescue efforts, the hiker later died.
