Two people were hurt Monday when a vehicle crashed into the back of a big rig on Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit and landed on its roof.
The crash was reported about 1:20 p.m. east of Cottonwood Springs Road, about 25 miles east of Indio, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness reported that the vehicle’s driver was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer at the time, the CHP reported.
Riverside County Fire Department crews were summoned to treat two patients with injuries described as minor.
