A pedestrian was in critical condition Saturday after being hit by a car in Jurupa Valley, sheriff’s officials said.

The crash was reported at 7:35 p.m. Friday at Mission Boulevard and Glen Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

When first responders arrived at the location they found a man lying unconscious on the roadway and later learned he had been struck by a silver 2006 Toyota Tundra, according to Sgt. Saykham Iemsisanith.

Deputies performed life-saving measures on the man until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital in critical condition, sheriff’s officials said.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Iemsisanith said. Following the crash, the driver was taken to the Jurupa Valley sheriff’s station for questioning.

Authorities said that they don’t believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash and that the investigation was ongoing.
