Firefighters Saturday stopped the forward progress of a small brush fire in Riverside that had the potential to grow much bigger.
The one-acre wildfire was reported at 10:46 a.m. at a dry river bottom near Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Road, according to the Riverside City Fire Department.
Due to windy conditions, fire officials said the fire was moving at a moderate speed and could have grown to 100 acres.
The forward progress of the fire was stopped at 11:05 a.m. with the help of crews from the Riverside County Fire Department.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
