The city of Palm Desert is accepting submissions in a competition aimed at finding suitable art pieces to be featured on a new roundabout on San Pablo Avenue.
Aspiring applicants must have “public art experience” and be at least 18 years old. Three finalists will be chosen by members of the city’s Art in Public Places Commission.
The artwork will be featured on the recently completed roundabout located at San Pablo and San Gorgonio avenues.
Successful designs will be evaluated based on the artist’s innovation, along with by site appropriateness, size and quality, among other factors, according to the city.
Illuminated artwork and multiple sculptures will be accepted, but sculptures featuring “water features” will not.
Applications must be submitted through www.callforentry.org by 11:59 a.m. on March 15.
Questions about the competition can be emailed to email@example.com, or by calling 760-837-1664.
