A brush fire erupted Tuesday on the north end of Moreno Valley, consuming four acres and threatening homes.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Pioneer Ridge and Saddle Ridge roads, near Poorman’s Reservoir, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate in medium vegetation.
Crews established defensive perimeters along Parkland Avenue as the fire approached residences on the street, according to reports from the scene.
A Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter was summoned to make runs on the fire.
The cause was not immediately known.
