A 28-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to vandalizing Scientology property in Santa Ana in December 2021 and sentenced to 20 days in jail, which he had credit for since his arrest May 28.
Christopher Sotelo was charged Aug. 17, 2022, with vandalism of religious property and a hate crime, both felonies, according to the criminal complaint. He made his first appearance in court last month.
As part of his plea deal a felony count of a hate crime was dropped.
Sotelo was placed on two years of formal probation and ordered to participate in a six-month outpatient program for drugs and alcohol, according to court records.
