A second-alarm fire that erupted Friday in a large barn on a Wildomar property caused major damage but no injuries — to people or livestock.

The blaze was reported at 10:58 a.m. Friday at 22650 Lost Road, near Dial Road, barely a mile east of Interstate 15, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that multiple engine and ladder crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the structure, from which the animals apparently had been removed.

As of 11:50 a.m., firefighters were making steady progress knocking the blaze down in stages.

No surrounding vegetation caught fire.

The roadway was shut down, but only a half-dozen residential properties are established there.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
