A U.S. Postal worker suspected in the recorded beating of a white peacock that used to roam a Pasadena neighborhood is scheduled to be arraigned Friday after being charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.
Nicknamed Sugar, the white pea fowl was attacked on Aug. 18 on Mohawk Street.
The attack upon the bird was captured on video and upset many of the residents in the Pasadena neighborhood where the fowl had long lived.
The postal worker, Charanjit Singh was charged on Oct. 1.
The Pasadena Humane Society treated Sugar’s injuries and then relocated the bird to Northern California.
Sugar suffered swelling but no broken bones in the attack, during which the fowl was beaten with a stick or club.
