Is summer here?

Not quite, but Southern California was in the middle of a late-April mini-heat wave Tuesday as the mercury hit 89 at midday in downtown Los Angeles and edged into the low-90s in Orange County.

It was even balmy at local beaches as Redondo Beach reached 77 and Long Beach 87.

Forecasters said we can look for continued temperatures in the 80s through the end of the week.

But wouldn’t you know it – the hot weather will last through Thursday or Friday and weekend highs will be only in the 70s.

Despite the warm daytime temperatures, overnight lows continue to be chilly, dipping down to the mid-50s and low-60s.
