The Southland’s heat wave continued Thursday, as the National Weather Service reported high temperatures from the low 80s at the beaches to around 90 inland. It’ll be even warmer Friday, topping out close to triple digits in some areas by Saturday.

Thursday night it will be mostly clear. Lows in the mid 60s to around 70.

It may be even a bit warmer Friday through the weekend with the forecast calling for sunny skies again and highs from the low 80s at the beaches to the upper 80s to mid 90s in downtown Los Angeles and other inland areas. Sizzling temperatures could even approach the 100-degree mark by the weekend in the valleys.

In Coastal Orange County Thursday the weather consisted mostly of sunny skies. Highs 84 to 89.

Thursday night it will be mostly clear. Patchy fog overnight. Lows around 67.

Friday it will be partly cloudy in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs 86 to 91.

The ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area for Thursday is a high 8, according to the weather service. A high exposure level reading of 7-9 means that a person could be sunburned in 7-8 minutes.
