The National Weather Service Monday announced a chance of showers and thunderstorms across Southwest California Wednesday and Thursday.
Areas under the watch include the Los Angeles County Coast, Santa Monica Mountains recreational area, Los Angeles County Mountains excluding the Santa Monica range, Antelope Valley, Catalina Island, Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley.
While the coast and valley areas will have a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, higher chances will exist across the mountains during the afternoon and evening hours both days.
Tuesday afternoon will bring a slight chance of mountain thunderstorms for Los Angels and Ventura Counties. There will be a potential for heavy downpours with any thunderstorms that develop.
Heavy rain will result in a risk of flash flooding and debris flows in recent burn areas. Rain is expected to diminish Thursday night into early Friday as the system moves out of the area.
