Strong Santa Ana winds buffeting the Southland are creating high ocean swells at Avalon Harbor on Santa Catalina Island and other east-facing areas.

A wind advisory is in effect until noon on Sunday. Steep seas around 4 to 7 feet will affect northeast facing harbor entrances.

Authorities said improperly anchored or moored vessels may become loose or drag anchor in east facing harbors, causing damage to other boats in the vicinity.

The National Weather Service forecast for central Los Angeles from Malibu to Long Beach calls for sun with highs around 60. Gusty Santa Ana winds will reach 35 mph at times.

Sunday night will be most clear with lows in the upper 30s and 40s. Monday is expected to be cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain.
