Work? School? Forget about it! Surf’s up!
High surf conditions are expected for much of the coming week, starting Monday for beaches in Los Angeles County, according to the National Weather Service
South of Point Conception, surf will begin to build on Monday as a long period west swell begins to move into the near-shore waters. By late Monday afternoon and Monday evening, surf may build to 4 to 7 feet on southwest to west facing beaches.
The largest surf will likely be near Ventura Harbor, but high surf is also expected for west facing beaches of Southern Los Angeles County such as Manhattan Beach.
The surf may also cause beach erosion and minor coastal flooding, especially during the time of high tides.
As always, authorities warned wet-suited surfers to stay cautious in the water as the unusually high surf can be dangerous.
Southland temperatures will be fairly mild, although still on the cool side at the start of the week.
The forecast for central Los Angeles from Malibu to Long Beach on Sunday calls for a 20 percent chance of showers until midday followed by mostly cloudy conditions and highs in the low to mid 60s. Overnight the lows will be around 50, and on Monday it will warm up to the upper 60s.
