Strong winds blew in the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles and Ventura counties early Monday at the start of what promised to be another abnormally warm day.
National Weather Service forecasters said northwest-to-north winds of between 20 and 30 miles per hour would sweep mountain areas through mid morning, gusting to 50 mph. A wind advisory will be in force until 9 a.m.
The strongest winds will be in the Interstate 5 corridor, according to the NWS, which said the wind could make driving difficult, especially in high- profile vehicles.
Temperatures, meanwhile, will again be above normal. The NWS forecast highs of 65 in Newport Beach; 67 in Laguna Beach and San Clemente; 70 at LAX; 73 in Avalon; 74 in Anaheim; 75 in Long Beach and Irvine; 76 in Fullerton; 78 on Mount Wilson and Palmdale; 79 in downtown L.A., Lancaster and Mission Viejo; 80 in Yorba Linda; 82 in San Gabriel; 84 in Pasadena and Burbank; 86 in Saugus; and 88 in Woodland Hills. Tuesday’s temperatures will either be the same or climb by up to several degrees.
