The Southland again basked in summer-like temperatures Tuesday, but showers are expected before the end of the week.
Tuesday’s temperatures were a little lower than Monday, but it still reached into the 90s in the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys.
Because of winds and low humidity levels, an elevated fire danger will persist through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday’s temperatures will be two to five degrees lower — this time under sunny skies everywhere. They will fall another few degrees Thursday and again Friday, when showers are forecast in L.A. County and partly cloudy skies are expected in Orange County. Between Friday and Sunday, highs are expected to be in the high 60s and low 70s.
“Low clouds and fog with more significant cooling are slated for Thursday and Friday,” according to the NWS. “A weak storm system is expected to move into the region by Friday bringing a chance of showers.”
Friday’s showers will cause roads to become dangerously slick, the NWS warned. The rainfall will result from an upper-level trough from the Pacific Northwest, said NWS weather specialist Stewart Seto.
Then, on Sunday, another source of potential peril will appear in the Southland in the form of high surf, persisting into Monday, according to the NWS.
