Critical fire weather conditions across Southland deserts and mountains prompted red flag warnings jn Los Angeles County Sunday and into the night, as fall-like desert winds were anticipated by forecasters.
In the Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles, dry winds were predicted to blow out of the north or northwest at 15-25 miles per hour, and with peak gusts to 50 mph, starting at midafternoon, National Weather Service forecasters said.
The Red Flag Warnings were to expire at 10 p.m. tonight in the deserts, and at 6 a.m. Monday in the local mountains.
