Passengers who take Metro’s Red Line were being advised Wednesday morning to expect major delays and make alternate plans during rush hour because of a power outage at the Red Line’s main yard.

The outage prompted Metro to reduce the size of its trains from six cars to two cars, meaning every train between Union Station and North Hollywood will be crowded, according to Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo.

A bus bridge will be provided for passengers the entire length of the Red Line, he said.

Passengers can take the Metro Purple Line from Union Station to the Western/Wilshire Station and take regular bus service to their destination, said Ubaldo.

It’s unclear how long it will be before the Red Line returns to normal service, he said.
