Winter Shelters Extend Hours as Storms Approach

With rain moving into the area, extended hours will be offered at winter shelters around Los Angeles County beginning Wednesday evening and continuing until Saturday morning.

According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, hours will be extended from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Saturday at the following shelters:

— Antelope Valley-Hope of the Valley;

— San Fernando Valley-Santa Clarita CDC (Bridge to Home);

— San Fernando Valley-Hope of the Valley;

— San Gabriel Valley-Volunteers of America;

— Metro Los Angeles-Weingart;

— Metro Los Angeles-Midnight Mission;

— West LA-First to Serve;

— South Los Angeles-Bethel Los Angeles CDC;

— South Los Angeles-Home at Last (Men’s shelter), 5165 S. Vermont Ave.;

— South Los Angeles-Home at Last (Women’s shelter), 5500 S. Hoover Ave.;

— South Los Angeles-Home at Last (Transitional Age Youth Shelter), 2712 W. Vernon Ave.;

— South Los Angeles-Home at Last (Gramercy Adult Co-Ed Shelter)-4831 S. Gramercy Place;

— South Los Angeles-Bryant Temple; and

— South Bay-U.S. Vets.

The LAHSA Augmented Winter Shelter at Bassett Park, 510 Vineland Ave. in La Puente, will open at 7 a.m. Thursday and close at 7 a.m. Saturday. Information on accessing the shelter is available by calling Volunteers of America Los Angeles at (909) 593-4796.

The Augmented Winter Shelter at Athens Park, 12603 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, will also be open from 7 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Saturday. Information on accessing the shelter is available from First to Serve at (323) 758-4670.
