A man was critically injured this evening after he fell off a Metro platform and was hit by an A Line Train in the downtown Long Beach, according to authorities.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m., authorities said.

The injured man who was in his 30s fell off the platform at 5th Street and Pacific Avenue before he was run over by the front wheels of an incoming train, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin told the Long Beach Post.

L.A. Metro tweeted that there will be “up to 15 minute delays due to train-person incident at Pacific Station.”

LA Metro reported at 7:45 p.m. that the “A Line Train will resume normal service with up to a 10 minute residual delay through 9 p.m.”
