Nearly 1,900 customers lost power in three downtown communities Thursday, with electricity quickly restored to more than half those affected and the rest coming back online after about two hours, according to a San Diego Gas & Electric representative.

SDG&E’s Denice Menard said electricity went out in the Balboa Park, Center City and Golden Hills communities shortly after 10 a.m. and was fully restored by 12:13 p.m.

“Everything is back up and running,” Menard said shortly before 1 p.m., adding that while SDG&E is still investigating the exact cause, rain may have seeped into an electrical substation.
