The mother of the late Atlanta rapper Slutty Sunny filed court papers against Los Angeles County Thursday stemming from the 2020 death of her son, who was allegedly struck by a Sheriff’s Department bus while he was walking along a portion of a freeway in Arleta.
The plaintiff, Cherryl Jackson, seeks unspecified damages in the still-unofficial Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, which alleges wrongful death and negligence. An LASD representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The 20-year-old singer, whose real name was Jordon Trevon Williams, was struck in the number two lane of the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway south of Osborne Street about 3:20 a.m. last Aug. 31 by a Sheriff’s Department bus driven by Deputy Jose Mario Barrera, according to Jackson’s court papers.
Barrera was driving at an “unsafe and dangerous speed,” according to Jackson’s court papers, which do not state why her son was walking on the freeway.
The rapper was a part of a collective called Vampire Cult, whose members include frequent collaborator Kamikaze Kay, according to media reports.
